Tajikistan: it's a long way from anywhere...

you've ever been before, as the song sang once upon a time. Here it is, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, China to the east, and Afghanistan to the south. You just kind of go to Turkey and head east, as I did. But the people are not Turks, or anything much like them. Their language is very close to Farsi, the language of Iran, and Dari, one of the languages of Afghanistan, and the people look, well, Persian.
